H2020 Evaluation Service

If you have already started to write your H2020 research proposal, we will evaluate it in accordance with the EC Evaluation Criteria. Our team of technical experts are experienced EU evaluators across a wide range of research disciplines. This evaluation, prior to submission, could prove critical in gaining those vital extra marks, increasing your chances of being funded. We evaluate under Excellent Science, Industrial Leadership, Societal Challenges, Spreading excellence and widening participation, Science with and for Society, and The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

Our H2020 Evaluation Services include:

Package A

One Evaluation

Package B

Two Evaluations

Package C

Three Evaluations

  • Package A: One-stage evaluation.

This involves one evaluation of the research proposal at any stage of its development pre-submission to the funding body. The evaluation is conducted by an experienced EC evaluator.

The evaluation involves: a forensic review of the proposal, using tracked changes and comments; an evaluation summary report according to the EC Criteria; and a Skype discussion (usually 2-4 hours) with the Coordinator after the review. We also edit, proof-read, and suggest revised text, as we go along.

  • Package B: Two-stage evaluation.

This involves two evaluations of the research proposal at any stage of its development pre-submission to the funding body.  A second evaluation is conducted on a later version of the proposal, followed by the second evaluation report with recommendations for revisions.

Each evaluation involves: a forensic review of the proposal, using tracked changes and comments; an evaluation summary report according to the EC Criteria; and a Skype discussion (usually 2-4 hours) with the Coordinator after the review. We also edit, proof-read, and suggest revised text, as we go along.

  • Package C: Three-stage evaluation.

This comprehensive evaluation service includes all of the services in the two-stage evaluation above, with one additional evaluation cycle. This is normally availed of by clients who require an evaluation service at the early, mid and final stages of the proposal development.

Horizon 2020 is the funding programme for research and innovation of the European Union. Any type of organisation from both the private and the public sector is eligible for funding, provided that they perform research or develop innovative products or services. To a lesser extent, Horizon 2020 also funds coordination and support actions that concern topics such as dissemination or support to researchers.

Horizon 2020 funding is awarded based on calls for project proposals, which are published on the Participant’s Portal. The calls for proposals define the thematic areas for which funding is available and provide all criteria that need to be respected. They also include information on the total amount of budget available and the deadline for submitting a call. This deadline has to be respected to the minute – proposals that are submitted too late will not be taken into account.

Information on upcoming Horizon 2020 calls can be found on the Horizon 2020 website.

To prepare a Horizon 2020 project proposal submission, first login to the ECAS portal. Then, locate the call you are interested in under ‘Funding Opportunities’. Select the opportunity, and click the button ‘Start Submission’ to download proposal templates and prepare the required documentation.
